Is MOL old?

I'd like to explore SWAP SOMA, but not have the postings flood my Facebook page, and also so my small group of Facebook friends don't become notified about every SWAP posting from someone on SWAP. Would someone be kind enough to explain how to set that up, from someone not very current on Facebook details? Thanks.

After you join the group, you can have the posts not show in your newsfeed. Go to the group page and click on "Notifications." Then you can turn them off completely, or only show them for people you're directly friends with. "Highlights" is posts with lots of comments or likes.

And since it's a closed group, your posts there won't be visible to anyone who is not a part of the group.

Do you really think that your anonymous MOL account could not be traced back to your identity? It's no different than Facebook. You've given up any semblance of privacy if you choose to use the Internet.

(For what it's worth, as a 20-something I am apparently the "younger generation" of this forum. Feel free to ask me questions about Justin Bieber and Snapchat and lazy Millennials, we're all the same.)

It's very different from Facebook on MOL in that MOST people use their real names there. Plenty don't, but the majority do. Could someone figure out an anonymous user here? Probably with a decent amount of effort. But the average user could not.

When I started postjng on mol it cost a nickel!

You seemed to figure out who I am. smirk

That's because I know all. Oh, and I work for the NSA.

mwahhahahaha!

Well, now I feel old.

I am 56 (which entertains my younger brother). If you click on my name, you can see that I've been on this site since 1999. Never banned, I just thought to add that.

Well, those younger types only need 144 characters for a sustained conversation ;-)

56 is not old.

As to being banned there is always a first time. grin

In my day we didn't have any fancy Facebook! We had to converse with strangers. We'd holler at each other all day and nobody had any idea who they were hollering at. And we liked it!

Because you are a good liberal and in with the Ross's of course.

I'm 67, and have been banned. I fit the curmudgeon mold, yet still remain youthfully fizzy...

-s.

This is a somewhat dated, but interesting take on what Facebook does or might do with its data trove.

I've just joined SOMA Lounge and within two days I've been more pissed off at some of the posts than in years of MOL.

I've been a member since it started, but there are very few posts that piss me off, mainly because they are not laid out like here where you can see at a glance how many people commented on your (my) vituperative dreck.
