Meanwhile, back in another NYC courtroom, this is happening…

Gold bars were found, concealed into the lining of his suits — really?!

Let everyone know when you find a defense of Menendez in his current legal difficulties by a poster on MOL, or a local Democratic politician, or a NJ Democratic politician, or a national Democratic politician.

Question I have is why another Democratic alternative cannot be considered, albeit the November election is looming. Is it really all about Kamala Harris and the prospect of her stepping into —(two scenarios come to mind) —%the role as our  first female president? Her poll numbers have been so consistently poor, she could never win an election on her own merits.

Do you even care?

I think most rational people are wondering why we can't do better than the two fossils we have now, but it seems that it is what it is.

Queen size sheets can come in different sizes.  Some queen size mattresses are extra long (California) size and require California-size sheets.  Others may be designed for a thinner or thicker mattress.  What did it say on the queen size sheet set you bought regarding measurements of the flat sheet in the set? Did you look to see if other sets were longer or wider (depending on where you need the extra fabric)?

Hi, Joan,

I've bought queen sets from a few vendors (Amazon, BB&B, Company Store, Macys) and the flat sheets from every one of them are too narrow to tuck under the mattress.  I don't think one can shop for a larger queen-size flat sheet, if that's what you're suggesting.

I have bought relatively inexpensive and relatively expensive queen sized sheets and this is the case for newer queen mattresses--they aren't long enough to tuck in the sides. You can buy separates which might solve your problem, but king is so wide compared to the queen, the sheet will be practically dragging on the floor before you tuck it in.

I like the deep overhang. I like to tuck all that extra sheet in and get the cocoon effect.

I was a huge fan of Lenny Bruce. The freedom to use language without censorship was a big part of his point of view which I agree with.

I saw a quote attributed to him, "Take away the right to say f---, and you take away the right to say f--- the government.

To me it has always been about freedom as a female. I'm just as put out be religions that require a dress code for women and most all do.

It's a favorite word of mine, but my mother would have completely agreed with you and would consider it unrefined. In her company or that of my conservative friends, I would give up a bit of my freedom. And if I were in your company, I would be willing to apply restraint.

I'm sure that if you wore a shirt that said "f--- Joe Biden," she'd be willing to let it slide.

@db…Sounds like a beautiful love story with a happy ending.

Whatever path my daughters follow in life is fine with me.  What I don't really need to hear is a very well-paid man having no special qualifications beyond the ability to kick a ball preach to women about the path they should following in their lives.

I rarely post videos, but this is one of my favorite VP Harris moments. She may not come across as warm and fuzzy but I'm not personally looking for that in someone who could possibly move into the Presidency. She had my interest in the Democratic Primaries and was one of my picks.

RIP David Sanborn. While I wasn't a huge fan of a lot of his solo work, except when he worked with Marcus Miller, his session work on other people's songs was world class. Everything from Bowie's Young Americans to duetting with Eric Clapton on the Lethal Weapon soundtrack.

mt, what do you think about this kind of catholicism?

============================================================

https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2024/05/political-speech-and-employment

Kansas City Chiefs placekicker Harrison Butker has caused quite a little stir with a commencement speech he gave at Benedictine College, a small Catholic school in Kansas. Much of the attention has been focused on this passage:

For the ladies present today, congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. You should be proud of all that you have achieved to this point in your young lives. I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.

I can tell you that my beautiful wife, Isabelle, would be the first to say that her life truly started when she began living her vocation as a wife and as a mother. I’m on the stage today and able to be the man I am because I have a wife who leans into her vocation. I’m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me, but it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.

The nuns who founded that college smacked him down.

"The sisters of Mount St. Scholastica do not believe that Harrison Butker’s comments in his 2024 Benedictine College commencement address represent the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college that our founders envisioned and in which we have been so invested.

"Instead of promoting unity in our church, our nation, and the world, his comments seem to have fostered division. One of our concerns was the assertion that being a homemaker is the highest calling for a woman. We sisters have dedicated our lives to God and God’s people, including the many women whom we have taught and influenced during the past 160 years. These women have made a tremendous difference in the world in their roles as wives and mothers and through their God-given gifts in leadership, scholarship, and their careers.

"Our community has taught young women and men not just how to be 'homemakers' in a limited sense, but rather how to make a Gospel-centered, compassionate home within themselves where they can welcome others as Christ, empowering them to be the best versions of themselves. We reject a narrow definition of what it means to be Catholic. We are faithful members of the Catholic Church who embrace and promote the values of the Gospel, St. Benedict, and Vatican II and the teachings of Pope Francis."
