I often use and recommend www.tripinsurancestore.com. You can get quotes on-line or you can call and get help from a person! You definitely can find a "cancel for any reason" policy but from what I recall, you are not able to get all of your money back.
Look at Generali. Especially Their Premium Plan.
One caveat I just went through a steep learning curve:
for all these type policies you must buy insurance before you make your final trip payment,
some companies also have a 21 day in advance purchase policy,
also do not purchase anything called Trip Protection,
purchase insurance, therefore covered by your/our states insurance commission rules.
Thanks. I'll look into these. The insurance would be just for airline tickets. I want to take advantage of lower advance prices. But there's a possibility I might have to cancel. If I wait until a few days before the trip to buy the tickets, the price will be astronomical.
The Frommers have a wonderful travel show on the radio every Saturday at 3 PM on WABC 770. You can call in with your question and quickly receive your answer.
Shoshannah-
I believe all/most trip insurance policies require you to insure the full amount of the PREPAID portion of the trip. That could meet your needs as long as you haven't prepaid hotel or other lodging etc. Also, the insurance is usually provided in increments, ie $1000, $2000 etc., it is not generally for the exact amount of your expenditure.
Anyone know of some type of travel insurance I can purchase that covers cancellation for any reason? The insurance offered through Allianz when you purchase airline tickets only covers for specific reasons, such as illness, death, and natural disaster. I want to be insured against cancelling because there's a possibility that something else might come up. Thanks.
