PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

Pouring in Maplewood right now - WINS just announced that the heaviest rains with this storm are over Maplewood and Union! Water is cascading down the gutters on Park Road - watch out on Valley, and all the other places that usually flood!

Listening to police scanner, something about water pressure popping open a manhole cover, somewhere in Tuscan area I believe. Wow.

Now something about heavy traffic on JFK parkway and that the road is impassable.

Just turned around at Millburn Ave and Ridgewood because of flooding.

Well over an inch so far from this storm. If you see flooding, report it on this form: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/er/okx/report.php

Or you can post it to the NWS New York office Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/NWSNewYorkNY?fref=ts

Note I cannot report what I do not personally see, so your reports of what you have actually observed help with emergency management -- I cannot relay them to the NWS and the NWS does not check MOL.
