Fifa, like the United States government sadly, is totally corrupt. So they are bribing their members to vote yes. The big question is whether the UEFA members are going to stand firm, because without European countries there is no world cup. Just a Brazil - Argentina game for 5th place.

Good points. I am so tired of the Trump family monetizing the presidency. They levied accusations about the Bidens doing it but totally ignore Trump's even more egregious actions. Sounds like FIFA and the Trumps are birds of a feather.
A. CONCAFAF has also declined to back this venture.
B. Infantino is not popular with UEFA. He got elected by the African & Asian regions, since he is lining those confederations pockets with money.

With all due respect, CONCACAF has never won a world cup, so who cares what they think. And neither does anyone care about Africa & Asia.

That year the World Cup consisted of a single match between West Germany and Italy was as entertaining as the March Madness field of Indiana-Michigan.

Obviously, without UEFA there is no tournament. It doesn't matter what you think about CONCACAF. FIFA has 211 member countries, and their votes (for Infantino) count equally.
However, ASIA has also declined to support the idea, so he will have difficulty getting approval. Yet, today he announced that the process will continue, so 'member countries can evaluate the proposal fully'.
I have not seen any comments from CONMEBOL yet, but if they decline the idea is dead as a door nail.
Not all door nails are dead… some are rusty and kinda difficult to extract with a claw hammer…

FIFA and Infantino are beyond corrupt. They make the IOC look like Boy Scouts.
Infantino will continue to push his plan even though 136 countries have formally rejected his proposal out of 211.
I'm hopeful this will ruin his chances of getting re-elected. He was on track to win in a landslide, but this proposal may have changed a lot of minds.

Senior FIFA official resigns over Infantino's World Cup sell-off plan. Second says it deceived staff
GENEVA (AP) — Two senior FIFA officials criticized Gianni Infantino's World Cup sell-off plan Friday with one resigning as a presidential adviser and a second saying staff were deceived by project that must not go ahead.
Carlos Cordeiro, who represented the soccer body on the White House Task Force for the World Cup, resigned in protest at the private equity plan.
"I cannot stand by while FIFA considers selling a stake in the World Cup," Cordeiro, a former Goldman Sachs banker, said in a statement resigning as adviser to FIFA President Gianni Infantino that urged other senior FIFA staff to speak out.
FIFA's chief operating officer Kevin Lamour said in a statement to The Associated Press staff were "deceived" by Infantino's lack of openness planning the private investor scheme and "deserve better than contempt and intimidation."
"It is the project of one person," Lamour, a long-time colleague of Infantino at both FIFA and UEFA, wrote. "Not only must this project not go ahead … but the time has now come for football political leaders to ask themselves the right questions and make the right decisions."
They both need to go. And after they go they should be thoroughly investigated for corruption and self-dealing and held accountable.

I am astonished and angered by the plan being put forth by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to sell an up-to-20-percent stake in FIFA’s marketing and events operations to a group of investors largely run by Jared Kushner's younger brother, Josh Kushner. As I understand it, the lure for FIFA’s 211 member nations is that they would each receive $20-40 million and, of course, the Kushners would see a significant financial windfall. Infantino would likely be named the head of the new organization, with an anticipated salary of about $60 million a year.
This rather clearly explains the cozy relationship Infantino appears to have with Trump, the fake "FIFA World Peace" award that was concocted to feed Trump's insatiable ego, and allowing Trump to present the World Cup winning trophy, etc. Trump and his unscrupulous family inevitably try to get their claws into, and monetize, everything they see that is good in the world that they can cheapen and sell. MAGAS are oblivious to Trump's shenanigans and, unfortunately, there always are corrupt collaborators willing to sell their integrity to the Trumps for a piece of the pie. Even former FIFA president Joseph Blatter, who knows his way around a corruption opportunity, said that "The close relationship between the FIFA President and the US President has reached a financial dimension that is deeply damaging football. No one has the right to sell our game."
Thankfully, the 55 members of UEFA voted unanimously to reject the proposal and declared they will boycott the World Cup if the plan goes through but it will require a great many other nations to vote similarly to prevent the takeover because all that is required is a simple majority.
