NYT Virtual Reality App - Unbelievable!

You need the glasses they put in the paper last night and you need to download the film, but then you are there! You can look in all directions. Up, down, left, right. Unreal.

Looks interesting. To clarify, cardboard viewers are included in weekend subscription copies, or people can buy one:

I just opened it...and my kids don't put it down! hehe. I'm just using the plain google cardboard app, where do I get the film? what else can I do?

I took part in a demonstration of this device. Pretty cool. Google intends it for education purposes. Experience can be led by a teacher using a tablet.

norardz, "film" is a video which you can download from the above site link, which also has a FAQ and problem-solver page

Smartphone should be aligned flat against the cardboard viewer – if it is tilted, the image may appear blurry in the viewer. If you have a case on your phone, might help to remove it.

It's cool technology. But it's no substitute for good storytelling. I tried to watch the walking New York film and only made it half way through. To say it was boring was an understatement. It was like watching paint dry in 360 degree surround.

I realize that I will not be able to resist playing with it, eventually.

This is how mind control will be unleashed, by the way. Everyone willingly putting on the Google goggles they received in their morning paper, and letting it stream into their eyes. Just sayin' ...

Inmind VR has more apps that use Google Cardboard, and of course so does Google.
