COVID-19 Coping Policies in Your House

New rule at the Incredible household:

Fritos are made of corn. Corn is a vegetable. Fritos are currently considered a vegetable.

Any other suggestions?

Small, foil wrapped chocolate Easter eggs provide an excellent opportunity to work on fine motor skills. They are freely available.

Anything with milk or eggs as an ingredient counts as an essential protein.

That means you Haagen Dazs.

I have a teacher friend in Queens with two college children at home. She says there are three components to her lockdown survival:

A lot of daily exercise

Cadbury mini eggs

Nightly wine

I totally want to go to RobB’s house this weekend.

We did ice cream for dinner last night, with a downloaded classical concert.

**I’m glad to see this thread: it’s going to make Pesach planning for only two much easier cheese

Chocolate mousse

200g dark chocolate (though I’ve also used semi sweet chips and it came out just fine)

6 eggs

Pinch of salt

Directions:

Gently melt chocolate in double boiler

Separate egg whites from yolks

Add a pinch of salt to the egg whites and whip until firm

Mix  egg yolks into melted chocolate

Gently fold in 1/3 of the whipped egg whites into the chocolate.  Repeat until all egg whites are incorporated

Pour into serving dishes

Chill in refrigerator for three hour

Notes:  This is the recipe from the Nestle Noir bar.  the original recipe says this makes 8, but it is very rich and I made 10 serving with it and none of my kids complained about the smaller portion size.   At that size you’re realistically eating 20 grams of chocolate and half an egg, so unless you eat all ten servings by yourself in one sitting it isn’t a nutritional A-bomb and certainly satisfies a sweet tooth

Also, I’ve seen people posting this recipe translated into English, but for some reason with sugar added, which is NOT on the original Nestle wrapper.  You DON’T need to add sugar.  I’ve made it with Dark chocolate (50% which is close to the Noir) and with semi sweet chips, it works out fine either way, I don’t know why the translations insist on adding an ingredient that is not in the original

Edited because I had the number of servings wrong from the wrapper

That looks like a delicious treat for after Lent is over.

I've considered lifting my personal Lenten abstinences (sweets and fried food) but so far have managed to stick with them. Otherwise I would post about my Thin Mints diet.
