Brands of Toilet Paper

Paper products are so expensive and so flimsy. I always check the sales at Shoprite and bring home a huge bundle. Not happy with my purchases. I'm crossing Scott's off my list, it is terrible. What is a good brand?

As a general rule, I have found extra strong to be preferable to extra soft.

(Think about those two-sided terry cloth towels with the standard side being extra strong and the nonabsorbent super plush side being extra soft.)

Charmin extra strong works well enough.

It depends on your sewer -- in my old Maplewood house, I couldn't use premium TP or else it clogged the sewer line.

Costco brand seems to be a balance between scotts and premium. We find the premium problematic with the old pipes too.

Yep.

Yep.

Same pipe problems here. We used Cottonelle with Aloe when we moved here, and it kept plugging up the toilet. Switched to Angel Soft, problems stopped. We find it to be a nice, soft paper.

Like others, I have to watch the pipes. I always look for "septic safe" on the label. The best seems to be that scratchy Scott stuff.

Never thought about the pipes because I never had that problem. Maybe because I used Scott's.

Will try Angel Soft and Charmin. I never get to Costco. Thanks for everyone's good advice.

I used to like Quilted Northern, but my husband will only buy the cheapest brand. So I just grin and bear it.

I use Scott Naturals. It works for me...

But can you go commando????? oh oh

funny, I actually like scotts

We use Scott's Extra soft. We have a septic where we are and it breaks down the best. Even the septic people recommend it.

I buy Angel Soft when it's on sale at Shop Rite for something like $5.88 for a bundle of 16 double rolls (well below my rule of $0.50 or less per double roll), and often have a coupon for $1 off 2 packages, which means we have a few months' supply and I don't have to think about it for a good while. No pipe issues as far as I know.

Interesting that some MOL favorites are products of a Koch (bros.) Industries subsidiary.

Charmin Ultra Soft is the only brand that works for me, wouldn't dream of anything else.

We like the Target brand. Please tell me that it isn't from the Koch brothers!

(Deleted because I just cannot write a post explaining exactly why I like Charmin Extra Strong with feeling like I'm waaaaaay oversharing.) oh oh

I'm also a Target brand user. Or Quilted Northern. So far, so good on pipes!

Scott 1000 Rules! My sewer loves it!

Yeah, I try not to, but I just recently learned which was which. Luckily, my favorite TP (Scott) and paper towels (Viva) are NOT made by Koch Industries.

It's unbelievable the number of things the Koch Bros own, including Angel Soft, Brawny, Quilted Northern, Soft 'n Gentle, etc.

Too bad none of the plumbers weighed in. I expect they would endorse Scotts single ply.

I have never met a single ply toilet tissue that didn't require me to pull twice as much (lengthwise) off the role, so what's the point? (And it is usually not very soft.)

I think they they they might be trying to corner the market, then jack up the prices.

So the Koch brothers own something that we use to wipe our butts?

They'd double their profits if they rebranded it all as Koch Brothers Toilet Paper, and had a silhouette of their profiles on each square.

I usually always buy the Costco brand because it's more bang for the buck and I've never received complaints from the family. That said, if on sale, I will buy Cottonelle because it's magical.

That'd be a pretty *****ty thing to do.
