There is a Wind Advisory for this afternoon and evening, from 1pm to midnight.

A passing cold front likely to bring a squall line through our area between 2 and 4 this afternoon. Warmer temps in the 40s likely to keep any snow accumulation minimal although visibility could be affected briefly. Winds likely to pick up to 20 - 25 mph with gusts in the 40 - 45mph range for several hours. Temps drop sharply overnight.

* WHAT...West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph

expected.

* WHERE...Northeast New Jersey, southeast New York, and southern

Connecticut.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to midnight EST tonight.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may

result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high

profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.


Thanks for that warning. I was driving very carefully through it as I had an appointment in East Hannover at 3, and the squall, with the snow, winds and low visibility, was right on schedule. Fortunately, it seemed to pass fairly quickly.
