Before you start the bending, the reaching, the digging and the stretching, learn how to move. Gardening can relieve stress and promote wellness, but not if you are hurting yourself by moving incorrectly. Physical Therapists Joel Hirschhorn and Dave Mistry address some of the most common gardening-related injuries and show you how to avoid them. This two-part program begins in the classroom with some simple anatomy lessons and exercise suggestions. Then, we move outdoors for demonstrations of how to use a shovel, a rake, a wheelbarrow and all that other garden paraphernalia. Now’s the time to get ready for a healthy gardening season! Dress in comfortable clothing that you can stretch in and sneakers or sports shoes. For more information, or to register, please visit-www.arboretumfriends.org, 973.326.7603.
