British-American rapper Slick Rick, whose many hot releases include “Children’s Story” and “La Di Da Di” (with Doug E. Fresh), demonstrates his brilliant wordplay, dead-on pop culture references and hilarious one-liners at Horizon Foundation Sounds of the City. Admission is free! Known as MC Ricky D in the Eighties, Slick Rick and then-partner Doug E. Fresh released a series of acclaimed recordings, including “The Show.” He was scouted by Def Jam Records, which resulted in the success of his multiplatinum debut album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. Slick Rick is one of the architects of hip-hop whose music has been sampled more than 600 times and interpolated by such artists as Nas, TLC, Snoop Dogg and Beyoncé.
