Information: Looking for a way to give back this Thanksgiving? Community Congregational Church in Short Hills offers three activities this weekend, open to all ages, that will help families in need in Irvington.
HANDS-ON PROJECTS
- Volunteer as a family at the Oasis Food Pantry & Baby Bank! Pack and hand out groceries and baby supplies to Irvington families. Oasis is a joint project with the Irvington school district and the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. Sign up for Friday, November 16 from 1:30-5:00pm online at www.CommunityChurch.org.
- Instead of running a 5K, pack 5,000 pounds of food to beat hunger on Sunday, November 18 at noon! Parents and kids will help pack pasta and other items into family-sized portions to be distributed in Irvington. The 5K will begin after 10:30am Worship and lunch will be served. No advance registration is required.
- Distribute 200 complete Thanksgiving dinners — turkeys and trimmings! — to 200 families in Irvington on Monday, November 19! Volunteers will hand out packaged Thanksgiving dinners at the Oasis Food Pantry site in Irvington.
DONATE
- Sponsor Thanksgiving meals, provided by the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, for $25 a meal to give to a family in Irvington! Meals can be sponsored by credit card by visiting www.CommunityChurch.org.
